This started as a speedpaint that kind of consumed my entire night, my sanity, and the overall wellbeing of my drawing hand.

But at the same time, it turned out better than I had ever expected.

3.5 hours, Photoshop.

wow nice contrast! Not only in color/value, but also in the emotion. I see it as both an intense, dramatic prelude to a storm and a climatic apex in a movie, but also as the person on the bed/raft reaching to a peaceful conclusion and feeling content in the face of calamity.
