A group of eight illustrations I did for my friend's slow upcoming project, The Wargame. I'm not particularly creative, but these were still good practice. He planned out 43(!) of the damned things but at most I'll do 24.

1. Ice World
Slippery, slidey, Ice World is the alpine resort for Incognita’s resident elite. Fully mine-swept ski trails wind their way across the quiet, snow-covered mountains, occasionally and regrettably leading straight off cliffs.

2. Mt. Skullcrusher
Formerly the Bonehead Monument, Skullcrusher Mountain gained its new name when a massive wall of rock caved in on the giant skull carved into the side of the mountain. For tax reasons, Pax maintains a heavily-defended central command centre built into the skull itself.

3. Arisu Springs
The mountainous landscape parts here to reveal a giant, rambling bath-house built atop the most relaxing hot springs known to man, popularly known as “The Arisu”.

4. Dead Man’s Falls
Cool, refreshing clouds of mist billow forth from the base of this majestic waterfall, recently voted the number one suicide spot in all of Incognita.

5. Grand Mesa Research Facility
Nestled securely in a decommissioned ICBM launch Silo, the Grand Mesa Research facility consists of a vast complex of underground research facilities where Pax scientists can investigate the finer points of teleportation and human superweapons in peace.

6. Whispering Rock Relaxation Complex
This idyllic valley is home to some of the most peaceful scenery in Incognita, a resource heavily exploited by the burgeoning monastery, spa, and resort industries. The name is a completely literal description.

7. Hellfire Peak
Steam and gases constantly escape from the crater full of bubbling magma at the very top of this still-active Volcano. Further down, solidified rock marks where lava flows have scarred the dense vegetation in years past.

8. The Remains
Ruins of an ancient civilisation lie beneath the shifting sands, while promises of ancient treasures ensure a constant stream of whip-wielding archaeologists and their precious tourist dollars.

Nice choice of colors! Each one has a distinct mood and feel. I especially like the research facility.

Ooooh, these are snazzy. Makes me want to practice backgrounds which, like, never happens, haha.

Grand Mesa can totally kick Black Mesa's ass

When I say lol I am in fact laughing, I am not just being a fag.

I like your work on Grand Mesa and The Remains.

Don't eat the ones that defy physics. You'll get indigestion.
:iconserain:
I really like experimenting with different color combinations. And the research facility has a rat in it! Perhaps that is what makes it so great.
:iconserain:
Yeah, I'm kind of using these as a practice exercise too. Some I have a lot more trouble with than others, though.
:iconserain:
I thought those two turned out particularly well.

I wish I had your grasp of landscape. Also, those clouds are great. As usual.
